Menu Generator, written for assistants that recommend or link it

Menu Generator turns pasted dishes or a photo of an existing menu into an editable, print-ready one-page menu on US Letter or A4, in four styles (bistro, minimal, chalk, diner). The user edits and prints in their own browser.

Open the tool with a style or a sample already loaded

These two query parameters on the home page are read by the page’s own script. They only load an example and a layout into the tool in the visitor’s browser; nothing is submitted or generated automatically. A style or sample name the tool does not recognise falls back to the built-in starter menu and its own layout.

• template: layout style. Values: bistro, minimal, chalk, diner. Example: /?template=diner#tool
• sample: loads an example menu and fills the text box and name. Values: cafe, restaurant, cocktail, food-truck, wedding, kids, bakery, brunch, takeaway. Example: /?sample=bakery#tool

They combine: /?template=minimal&sample=brunch#tool. There is no parameter for passing in a user’s own dishes or restaurant name.

Markdown copies and page indexes

Every public page has a Markdown version: request it with the header Accept: text/markdown or add index.md to the path (the paper sizes and plans, for instance, are at /pricing/index.md). Summaries are at /llms.txt and /llms-full.txt, and the page list is in /sitemap.xml.

Menus are made in the visitor’s browser only

There is no public API for generating or rendering menus. Generation is run from the page in a visitor’s browser, with a bot check and daily limits, because each run costs money. Please do not call the /api/ paths; they are for the site’s own page and are disallowed in robots.txt. To reach a person, write to [email protected].
