Drink menu template

A single-page drinks list that works for a restaurant, a cafe, a party or a market stall: hot, cold, soft and, if you serve them, alcoholic drinks.

One page for every kind of drinks list

A drink menu has less to explain than a food menu and a lot more to compare: prices that need to line up, sizes, and one or two rules (refills, glass or bottle) that guests should not have to ask about. The template gives you a clean list in sections. It suits a restaurant that keeps drinks on a separate sheet, a cafe that has outgrown its board, a school fete or a party where the host wants guests to know what is in the cooler.

Group by how people choose

  • By temperature (hot, cold) for cafes and daytime places.
  • By type (soft drinks, beer, wine, spirits) for pubs and restaurants.
  • By moment (with food, to share, to finish) for a restaurant that wants to guide the order.

Pick one grouping and stay with it. Mixed systems send people hunting.

Glass, bottle and size

Wine is usually sold by glass and bottle, and beer by pint and half. Put the main price in the price column and the second one in the description, as in the sample. Both prices stay readable, and the price column does not get crowded.

Alcohol notes

If you serve alcohol, check what your local licence requires on a printed menu. Some places need an age notice or a responsible-service line; the footnote field is the place for it. Rules differ by country and region, so this page cannot tell you what yours are.

Non-alcoholic choices

Give soft drinks their own prominent section rather than one line at the bottom. Drivers, children and guests who do not drink are a large share of any table, and a short list of good choices keeps them from ordering tap water by default.

Looking for a bar or cocktail list?

A bar menu usually has cocktails with ingredient lines and a few snacks. For that, see the bar menu template or the cocktail menu template.

Printing

The sample uses the bold diner style, which reads from across a counter. Switch to the minimal style for a quieter restaurant. Choose Letter or A4 and print with margins set to none.

Questions about this template

How do I show glass and bottle prices?

Put the glass price in the price column and the bottle price in the description, for example “Glass; bottle 28”.

Should I list ingredients for soft drinks?

Only when it helps: fruit juices and homemade lemonade benefit from one detail. Plain sodas do not need any.

Can I use this for a party?

Yes. Leave the prices blank and print a list of what is on offer.

Does it include an age notice?

No. You add it in the footnote if your local rules need one.
